It takes a Village....

If you are reading this you are part of our Village. There may be some of you that may not know us personally but heard about us through friends. Well that is exactly how we stumbled upon this sweet baby. Due to privacy issues we will not be posting details of the baby until things are a little more definite.

Lots of time, money, blood, sweat, and tears have gone into our dream of starting a family over the last 8 years. Unfortunately our attempts have been unsuccessful. In April 2015, after a failed IUI procedure, we were faced with the reality that any future effort to start a family would be costly. Our options were to:

#1 - attempt IVF (invitro fertilization) with the limited supply of Greg's "swimmers" we currently have frozen. Chances of a successful IVF are limited due to Stacy's low ovarian reserve and not so great egg quality (so the chance of producing a solid viable egg are low...BUT possible!) We also have the option of using and "adopted embryo" - or use and "adopted egg" to match with Greg's "Swimmers" to increase the chance of a successful IVF. (estimated cost $14,000-$20,000 for one try)

#2 Adopt a child - but we always associated adopting with giving up on our chance to have a biological child. I know it sounds crazy but I was so afraid if I adopted I would not have the time or energy to attempt IVF once I got busy with our adopted kid(s).

Well the problem with all of the remaining options, is the financial side of it. We have applied for multiple grants over the years but have yet to be selected (but will keep trying). We realize that there are those willing to help it is really hard to accept help when there is no guarantee in the end result. I hate to have people think we "wasted" their money or worse, worry that we "misused" the money for something other than a baby. Combining all that with the lack of guarantee along with the anxiety of getting another "negative" result, we halted all fertility treatments and began to question if it was meant for us to have a baby.

That is until last week (June 22, 2016) when the opportunity to adopt a beautiful baby was unexpectedly presented us. While we have worries and there are many questions that still remain, after meeting this child we knew there was no way they could walk away from this and we plan to explore all options so that we can give this sweet baby the family it deserves.

We spent two hours with the baby on Saturday and we are already in love and are praying that this works out and we can bring the baby home soon - we are aware that this whole process can be tricky and at this point there is no guarantee. We believe the opportunity was placed in their lives for a reason and now have a renewed hope that they will have the family we have always longed for.

So thats where you come in. We are aware of the unbelievable support network of family and friends who have continued to pray for us over the last 8 years. The saying "it takes a village to raise a child" could not be more true for this situation. We will need each and everyone one of you to help make our dreams come true and now realize we must humble ourselves and ask for help. Whether it be a silent prayer, a motivational message, a hug, a shoulder to cry on, your time, a financial donation, or help with any of our fundraising activities - WE WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL <3
